Carrot of Another Another Color

Behold! The purple carrot! I forgot we planted these. I don't know why I get such a kick out of planting oddly colored vegetables but I do. Purple on the outside, orange on the inside. Dirtiest Kid in the World's review: "They taste like orange carrots, only beautiful." These are the Cosmic Purple Carrots. It has been above 90 degrees for what feels like an eternity for April. Our cold weather crops are getting scorched. We were hoping to extend the growing season for greens but we had to pull up tons of kale, spinach and carrots. Which is how I rediscovered these purple beauties. A shade house is being put up as I type because it looks like we might be facing another long, hot,DRY summer. On to the summer crops!

Naturally Dyed Eggs

Last year I missed the boat on this post. While we are out in the country celebrating an incredibly beautiful woman's marriage to a strapping young fellow... with tents! and cowboy boots! and ribbon dancing!

I leave you with last year's post. Here: Happy Egg Dying!
