Soccer Chickens

The cat with a dream

They refuse to take directions from their soccer coach.

We have been throwing up a portable fence around the chicken yard so the chickies can get some fresh grass and bugs. We move it around every few days so they don't destroy all the grass in one area. My daughter always leaves soccer balls in there so the chickens can play a pick up game. The chickens have started laying and we are getting at least 1/2 a dozen eggs a day. The more sunlight hours, the more eggs we will get, so it will only speed up from here. We have started giving the eggs away to neighbors, for now, until we get our act together to possibly sell them.

A lot has been moving around here but I haven't felt all that inspired to write about it. We planted beau coups fruit trees. Pears, apples, pomegranates, and limes. I think we are going to pop in two more citrus trees as well. Winter is really the best time to put in trees in South Texas. They need to get established before the heat of summer. Now is a great time to plant citrus if you want to get a new tree/ fresh fruit for your home as well. I can't wait to see all our sticks with leaves, buds, flowers and ...fruit of course.
