Herbie Hancock

In our festival of herbs garden we have: sage, rosemary, garlic and onion chives, parsley, oregano, lavender, and marjoram. Onions also crashed the party.

Not invited to the herb garden party but still beloved by me we have dill, thyme, chamomile and mint in other areas of the yard. We also just seeded some basil - my personal favorite- which I am anxiously waiting for.

  1. That's a lot of herbs- I only have Oregano, Italian Parsley (which I'm not too sure will be back this year), a volunteer dill in the greenhouse that I can't seem to get rid of ;), and the basil I've seeded came up the other day! I'm a little shy using herbs in cooking, but I'm getting much better :)

  2. My mouth is watering.... When will my garden look like yours, Josie?

  3. How do you do it. My cilantro is limping along, yet I think it took out my basil. And I can barely find the thyme! Your garden looks just fabulous.

  4. thanks guys! its easy-just marry my husband.

we also had a ton of cilantro but its on it way out. im glad since i really dislike cilantro and it would sneak into my salads.

we just prepared the soil really well with lots of compost beforehand and the herbs have basically taken care of themselves since we planted them. we barely even water anymore. the only one we had trouble with was the thyme. it kept dying on us because the soil wasnt draining well enough until we found it a good spot.

  5. also, i should add if our garden looks nice its because we prioritize it over other important things like say cleaning our house for example.

i would never in a million years take a photo of our kitchen on a normal day and post it for the internet to see. = )
